Purpose
Baza is a web dating and messaging application intended exclusively for adults aged 18 and over. It lets you display nearby profiles, exchange private messages and arrange meetings between consenting adults.
The Baza service, available at baza.fr and app.baza.fr, is published by GELMIX (see the Legal notice).
Using the service constitutes acceptance of these terms.
Access reserved for adults
Baza is a service strictly reserved for adults (18 years old or over).
Access is strictly forbidden to minors. The date of birth is declared upon registration and is used to verify adulthood; only the calculated age may be shown on the profile.
If there is any doubt about a member’s age, or a ‘Presumed minor’ report, the account may be suspended or deleted.
Account and identification
The account is created with a mobile phone number, verified by a one-time code sent by SMS, a mandatory email address and a personal password. You log in with the phone number or the email address, together with the password.
The email address is also used to recover the account; some features (including logging in by email) require it to be verified first. The password is stored only in hashed form: it is never kept in clear text.
Each person may hold only one account and one profile. The nickname is permanent: it cannot be changed after the profile is created.
You are responsible for protecting your means of authentication (password, access to your phone and to your SMS inbox).
Photos and content
Each profile has a single profile photo. The profile photo is subject to automated moderation BEFORE being stored or published. Nudity and sexually explicit content are prohibited in a profile photo.
If the moderation service is unavailable, the profile photo is refused: no profile photo is ever accepted by default.
When automated moderation refuses a photo on content grounds, that photo is never published: it may be kept temporarily in a private area so that a member of the moderation team can review it, then automatically destroyed at the latest 3 days after it was submitted if no decision has been taken. A photo refused because there is a doubt as to whether the person shown is a minor is never kept: it is destroyed immediately.
Profile certification is OPTIONAL: if you request it, you take a photo of yourself there and then with your phone camera, reproducing a code shown on screen. That photo is used only to check that it shows a real, sharp and properly framed face; it is never published, never compared with your profile photo, and does not amount to an identity check.
Profile texts must remain sober and lawful; they can be reported by other members. They are not subject to any automated analysis.
Private messaging
Private messages exchanged between members — text as well as photos — are not subject to any automatic moderation: their content falls under the confidentiality of correspondence. Blocking and reporting always remain available.
Photos sent in messaging are never moderated or passed to any analysis service. They are compressed and stripped of their metadata (EXIF/GPS refused) — technical protections only. They can be read only by the participants in the conversation.
Geolocation
Displaying nearby profiles requires an approximate position, recorded only with your explicit consent. Your exact position is never shown: only a rounded distance is displayed to other members.
You can withdraw your consent at any time: your position is then erased immediately. Some features (nearby profiles) then stop working.
Prohibited behaviour
The following are strictly prohibited on the service:
- access or registration by a minor;
- prostitution, escorting and any paid sexual service;
- publishing or distributing illegal content;
- harassment, threats and blackmail;
- identity theft and fake profiles;
- distributing images or information about other people without their consent;
- collecting other users’ data;
- spam and commercial solicitation;
- any abusive automated use of the service (bots, data scraping).
Blocking, reporting and moderation
Each member can block another profile: blocking is symmetrical (no visibility or contact whatsoever in either direction) and reversible.
Each member can report a profile or a behaviour (closed list of reasons — see the Reporting page). Reports are kept for handling and are never revealed to the reported profile.
In the event of a breach of these terms, the account may be suspended (7 days, 30 days or permanently) or deleted. In the event of permanent suspension, irreversible technical fingerprints (hashes) of the phone number and email address may be kept for the sole purpose of preventing re-registration — never the values in clear text.
Account deletion
You can delete your account at any time from the application, without justification. The associated data is then erased (see the Account deletion page).
Liability
The service connects consenting adults; the publisher is not a party to exchanges or meetings between members. Exercise caution during real-life meetings.
The service is provided ‘as is’; its permanent availability is not guaranteed.
Changes to the terms and applicable law
These terms may change; the version in force is dated. Members are informed of substantial changes.
These terms are governed by French law. Failing an amicable settlement, the French courts have jurisdiction under the conditions of ordinary law; a consumer mediator will be appointed if regulations require it, and their details will then be indicated on this page.
